Experience 09 — Crystal
Light bent
through code.
A single faceted gem, turning slowly in the dark. Its fire is not a jewel and not a photo — just fresnel, refraction and a cosine palette, computed on every facet, sixty times a second.
A surface that
only exists here.
Twenty flat faces cut from an icosahedron, each one bending the violet sky behind it a little differently. Nothing is painted — the colour is where the maths says the light would go.
Rim-lit
from nowhere.
The glowing edges come from a fresnel term that brightens wherever you look along a facet. Tilt it with your mouse; scroll to spin it faster and pull it close.
